Exciting New Year for 1 Puddle Lane

09/01/2012

Good morning lovely ladies,

Well another year has started at the home of 1 Puddle Lane.  There is always lots of celebrating done here at the start of the year.  Not only with Christmas and New Year being 1 week apart……my birthday is then 1 week after New Year and that usually lasts for a week.   So I’m still celebrating my birthday this week but come next Monday,16th 1 Puddle Lane will be open for custom orders again.

In between all the celebrating this week I hope to work on organising and cleaning out my office area and sewing room and getting it ready for my new ranges.

I’m really excited with my plans for 1 Puddle Lane this year.  I’ll be working on loads of samples over the next few weeks for a new girls range, a very handsome boys wear range, more ladies skirts and I’m working on bringing out a ladies dress which is just gorgeous.  I’ll give you sneak peeks on as I get them done.

All these gorgeous new designs will have to be showcased somewhere so I’m very happy to say I’m getting a new website too.  I’m hoping it will be done in the next month but I will keep you up to date on when it will go live.  And I’ll be sending out my newsletter every month with info on what’s coming up and items on sale.  So enter your details to the right of this post if you would like to join in the fun.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and still enjoying the holidays with your kids.

Do you have a New Years Resolution?

04/01/2012

Do you?

I haven’t had a New Years resolution for years as I didn’t believe in them and, well, they didn’t last long.  So, what happened this New Years to change my mind?  Well, everyone was talking about their New Years resolutions and I thought “Nup, not for me” probably because I didn’t know what I wanted to change as I was happy with how things were or so I thought!

It wasn’t until the last day of the year that I had an epiphany.  I had just one strong, loud thought.  I WANT TO BE MORE ORGANISED AND NOT SO LAZY THIS YEAR!  I got so excited with this that I instantly had ideas and energy to boot.  My kids thought I was on something I’m sure!  But it was so strong and felt good I went with it.

So, how have I started to be more organised and less lazy?  First, I not only wrote my Business Goals for the year but also my Personal Goals for the year too!  I found my newest best friend….courtesy of my hubby, who is also my best friend……that could help me with this.  WorkFlowy  Unbelievable is all I can say!  Go check it out!  It’s a simple list creation.

Next, to stop myself getting lazy I decided to do things differently to how I did them last year and that was to do them more deliberate and slowly…… as last year I’d go bull-at-a-gate and completely exhaust myself and then I’d get lazy and not want to complete the job.

And I’ve decided to enjoy everything I do this year and be more mindful of what I do and to slow it down.  Yes, that includes enjoying the washing, cleaning, cooking and really make friends with them.  So the first challenge on my list was to start with the garden.  I knew I had a big job ahead of me.  My challenge was to tidy up the garden and rip out all the ferns and to declutter the garden.  So I pulled out each clump of fern bit by bit and only focused on my task at hand and before I knew it I had it done in 3 days.  But I would only do it at the coolest part of the day and only for a few hours each day with lots of rests along the way.  But I got there.  I’m so proud of the work I accomplished and it’s spurred me on to tackle the inside of the house.  To declutter and to repaint ahhh!  I know I can do it! Just do it step by step!

Ta da!!!!
I’ve also started a herb garden…..but there’s not much to see there.  It’s just dirt in a pot at the moment!

Now it’s your turn!  What wonderful and exciting goals do you have for yourself this year?

My Proud Mummy moment

14/12/2011

My daughter, Kate, graduated last night for the second time this year and it was a very proud mummy moment for me.  After 7 long years Kate graduated in International Business and Law in June this year and last night she graduated in her post grad course in Legal Studies.  She will then be admitted to be a Solicitor in January.  It might be handy having a Solicitor in the family lol!

She graduated with her best friend who’s been doing the same course right from the beginning.  So yes, it was a very proud mummy moment!

Haha! but I’m not sure where Kate gets her smarts from as her dad and myself are not academically minded at all.

And to think they start out like this…..

And end up like this…….

A lot of proud and not so proud mummy moments have happened over the last 28 years…….but you know what?…… my princess has turned out fantastic in the end.  I couldn’t be more proud of her achievements.  Well done sweetness!

Wow! I can’t believe how fast the years have flown by…….So enjoy them all!
