Introducing MiSS RUBY TUESDAY DRESS – PDF pattern!

04/10/2015

I’m happy to announce that my latest pattern – MiSS RUBY TUESDAY DRESS – is ready for release!

It feels like it’s been a long time in the making but a few months is really not that long!  I’m so proud of this pattern and it’s soooo soooo cool to wear and also you have the option to make a long sleeve for winter and it’s so easy to make from stretch knit fabric…….yep! that’s right – NO ZIPS to be seen.

During the testing process all my lovely testers were firing design ideas at me ….. they were so fantastic that the options for this dress just grew and grew.

Here’s what you’ll get in this pattern –

  • 1/2 circle skirt – 2 cutting options
  • gathered skirt option
  • peplum skirt option – 1/2 circle and gathered
  • V neck front and back
  • Scoop neck front and back
  • Boat neck
  • sleeveless
  • cap sleeve
  • short sleeve
  • elbow sleeve
  • 3/4 sleeve
  • long sleeve

Here’s what my lovely testers have been saying:

Alisha Annand – The MOST amazing pattern I’ve tried this year. Bucket loads of options to suit a variety of styles, shapes and sizes. Without a doubt my favourite pattern that will be my staple go to for everything.

Melanie Hall – A dress for all occasions! I love that the Miss Ruby Tuesday Dress can go from Summer to Winter and everywhere from a coffee date to the races, depending on how you style it. Plus it’s so quick & easy to sew that I think I’ll be needing one for every day of the week! A true wardrobe staple.

Amanda deSerres – I LoVE, LOVe, LOvE this dress. I have never felt more beautiful or gotten more attention from my husband. I think that this may be the most flattering dress I have ever made. Everything is perfect, from the sleeve length to the sexy back scoop to the length of the hem. I love that there are so many options and I can’t wait to make another. And it’s so fast and easy to make. You NEED this pattern… and lots and lots of fabric to make many, many dresses.

Lesley Fletcher – The most perfect dress. Dress it up, dress it down, dye it, paint it, appliqué it, have a print, a plain, this is your go to dress, fits a wide range of sizes and shapes. Pretty much the perfect dress. Do yourself a favour and go and buy the pattern …. right now!!!!!

Ginger Bell – The Miss Ruby Tuesday dress is an absolute staple for your wardrobe. With so many neckline and sleeve options, you can easily make one for every season and occasion. Such a versatile pattern. The pattern is very professional and well put together. With the clear directions given in the pattern, it makes this dress a quick and easy sew anyone can tackle.

Lauren Whitney – FABULOUS pattern! Easy to follow instructions, and super quick to whip up once the pattern is printed, put together, and cut out. So many different options on how to assemble it, and you can do so many different things with it! I can’t wait to whip up another one!

Phoebe Gordon – The dress is on trend, an easy sew, with lots of style options . It can be dressed up or down, colour blocking is a great alternative and it would look really great. The possibilities are endless.

Sewing on Binding – Part 3

16/12/2013

Now that we’ve sewn on 2 different bias bindings that you use for armholes, necklines and anything that has a curved edge we are now going to do a binding edge that is more just for decorative reasons.  It’s a contrast binding around a hem of a dress, top, sleeve, collar etc.  If you missed out on Part 1 and 2 from the last two weeks click here:  Part 1 and Part 2.

This is how I’ve done the binding edges on my dress hems for  Audrey Lane dresses.  It’s quick, easy and finishes the hem off just nicely.

Ok, let’s get started!
Cut your binding piece the width of the fabric x 3.2cm/1 1/4″
DON’T CUT ON THE BIAS THIS TIME.

With the right side of the binding place it onto the wrong side of your garment.  Pin and sew 6mm/1/4″ in from the edge.

Turn your garment over to the right side and fold the binding in to meet the edge of the garment.  Iron the binding flat.

Fold over again and pin.
Make sure you cover up the stitching underneath.

Stitch the binding down on the inside edge.

Here’s the finished project……or you can take it one step further…

Make another row of stitching on the outside edge of the binding.
I always do this with my sewing projects as it gives the binding a crisper finish and looks great!

And that’s it EASY, PEASY…… bindings are a great way to introduce contrast and interest to your garment.

Next week we are tackling another type of binding that is great for armholes and necklines!

Exciting new Market Night …..

20/03/2012

A lot of people have been approaching me in regards to ordering my new Blossom Party dresses and I was just going to take orders once a month at my Market Nights on my facebook page but then thought it may not suit some of you who are wanting a special dress for a special occasion coming up soon.

So, I’ve compromised.  Here’s what will be happening:

  • You can order your gorgeous new Blossom Party anytime now.  But I will only be ordering fabrics once a week so I can put in a bulk order that way it keeps cost down for you and postage costs from America down for me.
  • I will still be having my Market Nights every 4 to 6 weeks for those that want to order then.

So, what’s this sweetener I speak of????  Call me crazy but I’m going to give 1 dress away at my Market Night.  Yep, you heard right!  I just love making these gorgeous dresses and making you lovely ladies looking and feeling fabulous.  My mission is to have as many ladies as possible in my Blossom Party dresses.

BUT WHAT’S THE CATCH…..I hear you whisper in capital letters?
  • You need to order on the night only and then have your payment, fabric option, price option etc…..in other words, EVERYTHING, done by the fourth day AFTER my market night.  On the fourth day I will announce the winner of the free dress and give them a FULL refund.  I will pick the winner…..it won’t be a random pick.  So you need to do everything possible to be noticed by me.  That could mean commenting a lot on my page and blog, do shout outs before and after the market night etc.  So get your thinking caps on and get creative so I notice you!
  • I will only have 20 custom spots available.  So it will be on a first in basis.
Do you want to know how you can secure your custom spot early at my next Market Night?
  • Join my VIP customer email list and you can shop half an hour before the public.
So, that’s it…..that’s my exciting (a tad crazy) news.  If you have any questions or want to suggest more fabric options or any ideas you might have please contact me via email.
Oh! and the next Market Night will be Wednesday 28th March, 8pm Qld time (7:30pm Qld time for VIP customers) on my facebook page.
I hope to see you all there.
