I hope you enjoyed my birthday sale for 1PL’s 10th birthday celebration. If you haven’t seen my blog post about what 1PL has been doing for the last 10 years CLICK HERE.
Now onto what 1PL will be doing in the future and I’m so excited to tell you.
I’m joining forces with my good mate Rae, for an exclusive range of vacation garments. It’s holiday time somewhere in the world, right? So this series of patterns will naturally be called ‘The Holiday Series’.
But just to let my MRT fans know, I’ll still be bringing out patterns that are inspired by the MRT pattern…..I have a few styles up my sleeve that I’m working on.
But before I get into the details of the new patterns and showing you sneak peeks, I’d like to share our story and how we go to this place.

OUR STORY
My good friend, Rae, and I were reflecting one day, over a glass of wine, about all our years of experience and the knowledge we have gained from working in the Textile Industry and how sad it is that fast fashion has diminished the skill it takes to design and make a piece of clothing by hand. Our Mantra soon became:
…..Keep the Art of Sewing Alive!…..
We decided to collaborate and develop a range of patterns that reflect our philosophy on making clothing from concept to completion.
Our combined 40 years Fashion Industry experience as patternmakers, designers, garment techs, sample machinists, and production managers, didn’t just teach us how to drink wine you know. It taught us how to design and construct clothing ready for the shop front.
Each pattern we created had to tick a few boxes so it didn’t end up on the pattern room floor. It has to offer you versatility via the simplicity of style and a good cut, enabling the simple change of fabric to transform a garment from casual to luxe wear. And that’s how easy it should be!
Also, we have hand-selected beautiful fabrics, from Fashion Industry suppliers, to go with each design. So, no more hunting around for the perfect fabric, we’ve done all the hard work for you. Plus, we can guarantee you won’t see these fabric pieces in retail fabric stores.
We keep it real…..no fancy words, no complex terminologies…..just straight to the point, step by step, downloadable sewing tuition. Providing you with a skill set to produce garments, at your own pace, equal to Fashion Industry standards and beyond.
I live in Brisbane and Rae lives in Gympie….but we make it work. While I have my 1 Puddle Lane pattern business, Rae’s business name is TDMHQ, The Dressmaker Headquarters, hence the t-shirts. TDMHQ resides at 8 Duke Street Gympie and offers a range of sewing courses from Overlocker Basics to Couture Sewing.
NEW PATTERNS AND FABRIC
We’ve got 10 patterns in the pipeline and we’ll be bringing out a new pattern and fabrics every 4 – 6 weeks. We’ve got beautiful linens, chiffons, polyesters and will be selling them as Fabric Packs – which includes the fabric, lining, interfacing, and also the pdf pattern. Or you can buy the pattern on it’s own.
The first pattern we’re bringing out is the Swing It Sista Top. The Swing It Sista Top was inspired by the fashion movement of the 60’s, where expressing your individuality and having FUN were paramount.
Swing It Sista will become your new GO-TO, or should we say “GO-GO-TO” top, as it transforms from day to night by simply changing your fabric. Use big bold geometrics and stripes for a statement piece or drapey silks, satins and chiffons for a touch of glamour…it’s that easy.
Designed to skim the body, allowing you to wear 100% polyester, if you choose, without sweating up a storm.
Here’s a preview of some of the patterns coming up.
New patterns coming soon…..
